How to Delete Personal Data from Lost Phone

If your mobile goes missing, and you are worried about someone browsing your private messages and photos, there are smartphone apps you can use to lock your device remotely and erase your personal data before anyone else can access it.

If you have got an Android phone, the free Android Lost lets you control your missing device over the web. You can lock and unlock the screen, delete contacts, messages and the contents of your SD card, and use GPS to track the phone’s location.

For iPhones and Pads, the app Find My iPhone offers remote locking and data-wiping functions, as well as options to sound an alarm and display a message on the screen: for example, if you wanted to get whoever finds it to give you a call.

If you use a BlackBerry, your device can be locked and all data erased using BlackBerry Protect, or by contacting the administrator of your BlackBerry server.
