How to Clear Windows Clipboard

Whenever you copy something, it is saved to the clipboard. To save space, it is worth clearing the clipboard each time. There is a tool for doing this in Windows.

In XP, type Clipboard into the Run box on the Start menu. Select Edit from the top of the window and Delete. Confirm by clicking Yes.

cmd Ic “echo off clip”

In Vista, 7 and 78 right-click the Desktop and select New, Shortcut. In the Location box, type:

cmd /c “echo off | clip”

and click Next. Name the shortcut and click Finish.

Right-click the shortcut, select Properties and change Run to Minimized.

You can also change the icon if you want. Click OK.

Every time you double-click this shortcut icon, your clipboard will be cleared.
