Foundations for all types of local businesses
It’s all about the search. People need to be able to find you. On any iOS device, using Sin or not, you have to be findable. To make sure that happens, you need to claim your business on these three sites: Google Places, Bing Business Portal, and Yahoo Local Listings. Once you have claimed your business listing on those basic sites, you can be assured that people will find you when they do a search on the computer or on their iOS device.
Social Media Platforms
#1. Facebook
With facebook app, you can comment, reply, upload pictures, create events - just about anything you need to do.

To my mind, Facebook is like a local newspaper. People announce weddings, divorces, births, and deaths on Facebook. They also announce events and try to sell things - all things that a local newspaper does. There are two ways a local business can use Facebook: by having an official business page, and by keeping a personal account with the Subscription button turned on.
On your official business page, make sure your business is categorized as a local business and have your best fans write recommendations right on your page. Always ask your customers if they are on Facebook. If they are, ask for a recommendation right after a sale.
#2. Twitter

Tweet instant updates of 140 characters or less to all your business’s followers with the official Twitter app.
I’m sure your city has active Twitter users. You can develop a Twitter account and connect to local people using Twellowhood. Then develop a hashtag that is specific to your business, and you should always include the hashtag for your city.
#3. Google+
The official G+ app is the best social media app I have found.

Since you already have a Google Place account, you will need to connect your Place account to your Google+ company page. The first step is to make sure you open your own personal G+ account and then a company page for your business; then connect that company page to your Google Place account (check to see if you can access company pages through the G+ app).
#4. Linkedin

Linked In is one of the most important social accounts a local business can have, yet it is the most overlooked. Think of this as your official business listing. You need a personal account and a company page.
#5. Pinterest

I can’t ignore Pinterest - and neither can you. It is the fastest growing social site at the moment and has recently been generating a lot of buzz. If your business has visually appealing items, you absolutely need to have an account here and, most importantly, you need to code your website so people can “pin” the images of your products.
#6. Foursquare
Use the official foursquare 4s app for checking in, discovering what’s nearby, and sharing your experiences with friends.

Search to find your business on foursquare (4s), and then claim it. Once it’s claimed, you can add specials to the check-ins. I always pull up 4s in my own town to see who has a special. I am much more likely to eat at a restaurant that has a special. You need to put the 4s decal in your window and honor the Mayor of your space.
